Each year Kington Town Council supports local organisations through community grants. Applications for grants are now invited from local community groups and further information can be found on the grants page of this website or from the Town Clerk. Your application and supporting documents must be submitted to the Town Council no later than Friday 15th March 2024 to be considered.
CLLR. B. BISHOP
We are delighted to welcome Councillor Buzz Bishop to the Town Council. Cllr. Bishop was co-opted to the council at its meeting on 15th January and works for Central Government within the department which regulates MPs business costs and salaries. She is a member of a number of local groups and her hobbies include bellringing. We look forward to working with her and benefitting from her expertise.
Following the co-option of Cllr. Bishop, the Town Council has one remaining vacancy to serve our community as Town Councillor. Appropriate notices have been displayed and no request made by residents for an election so the Town Council is now able to fill that vacancy by co-option. If you think you might be interested in serving your community as a town councillor, please let the Town Clerk know as soon as possible. There is more information on our Vacancies page.
CIVIC AWARDS 2024
It is time again to nominate your Local Hero for a Civic Award for 2024. There are two categories:
- a Young Person's Award for any young person living, attending school or working in Kington who is under the age of 21 and has made a significant contribution to the residents of Kington through voluntary effort, achieving success or overcoming particular difficulties, and
- The Community Award for a resident or community group or charity, living or working in Kington who has made a significant contribution to the residents of Kington above and beyond the call of duty, achieved local success or overcome particular difficulties
Civic Awards are presented at the Annual Town Meeting each year and further information and a nomination form can be found on the "Civic Awards" page of this website.
ELECTIONS HELD 4TH MAY 2023
On 4th May 2023 local elections were held in Herefordshire to elect/re-elect Town Councillors for Kington Town Council and councillors for Herefordshire Council. For the Town Council, there were fewer nominations than seats so all those nominated were elected uncontested, leaving three seats vacant. At the annual meeting of the town council which was held on Monday 15th May, we welcomed Cllr. Nicki Cornish, Cllr. Alan Dixon and Cllr. Kim Greig to the town Council.
