LOCAL COUNCIL ELECTIONS

On 4th May 2023 local elections will be held in Herefordshire to elect/re-elect Town Councillors for Kington Town Council and councillors for Herefordshire Council.  Information on the elections and the election process will appear on the Elections page as it becomes available. 

If you'd like to know more about what the Town Council does or maybe you'd like to consider standing as a candidate for the elections, why not come along to our Information Event on Saturday 18th February from 10am to 12 noon at the Old Police Station, Market Hall Street, Kington.  Booking is not necessary; just turn up. 

 

VOTER ID

For the local elections in May this year all those voting will need to be able to show photographic evidence of their identity.  Several types of ID are acceptable but for those who do not have anything, you can apply for a free voter authority certificate.  Full details of what photo ID is acceptable and how to apply can be found on the Herefordshire Council Website.   

 

CIVIC AWARDS

Kington's Civic Awards celebrate local heroes and are nominated by local people.  You can now nominate your local hero in two categories:  a young person living, attending school or working in Kington who is under the age of 21 and has made a significant contribution to the residents of Kington - a young person award - , and a resident or community group/charity living or working in Kington who has made a significant contribution to the residents of Kington - a community award.  Nominations must be on the form provided and sent to the Town Clerk no later than 31st March 2023.  For more information please see our Civic Awards Page on this website.

Next meeting of the Full Council

The next ordinary meeting of Full Council is scheduled for Monday 6th February, 2023 at 7.00pm at the Old Police Station, Market Hall Street, Kington.  Agendas and supporting papers will appear on our Council Business page approximately 3 clear days before the meeting.

Occasionally additional meetings are necessary to make decisions on matters which are urgent.  These are always announced on this website and on notice boards in the Town.  Please check these for further information.

Members of the public are warmly invited to join us for all meetings.  Details can be found on the meetings page of this website
