CASUAL VACANCY
Fred Hawkins has resigned as a town councillor as he has moved away from Kington and we thank him for all his efforts on behalf of the Town since his election many years ago. We all wish him well. This has created a casual vacancy and electors of the town can now request a formal election to be held to find a replacement. If ten electors so wish, an election will be held A copy of the notice of casual vacancy can be found on our elections page.
We currently also have a vacancy for another Town Councillor following the resignation of Jon Cooke and, as there has been no request for an election, the Town Council can co-opt to fill the vacancy. If you think you might be interested in serving your community as a town councillor, please let the Town Clerk know as soon as possible.
ELECTIONS HELD 4TH MAY 2023
On 4th May 2023 local elections were held in Herefordshire to elect/re-elect Town Councillors for Kington Town Council and councillors for Herefordshire Council. For the Town Council, there were fewer nominations than seats so all those nominated were elected uncontested, leaving three seats vacant. At the annual meeting of the town council which was held on Monday 15th May, we welcomed Cllr. Nicki Cornish, Cllr. Alan Dixon and Cllr. Kim Greig to the town Council.
