TOWN COUNCIL MEETINGS - COVID MEASURES - Updated
As the Local Authorities (Coronavirus) (Flexibility of Local Authority Meetings) (England) regulations 2020 have now expired so the Town Council has now returned to face to face meetings for formal town council and committee meetings. We are conscious that members of the public attending indoor meetings in the immediate future may be concerned about the health risks in meeting indoors at a time when infection rates are rising so in order to protect Town Councillors, members of the public and staff, the Council has resolved that it will only hold full council or committee meetings when there is a clear business reason for doing so. We also encourage you to voluntarily social distance when attending our meetings, use the hand sanitiser provided, take a lateral flow test prior to attending and use a face covering unless exempt. Please do not attend meetings of the Town Council or any committee thereof if you or a member of your household has be told to self isolate because of a positive Covid Test or you are experiencing symptoms of Covid 19 whether you have tested positive or not. Please check our meetings page for confirmation of which meetings are taking place and the venue for those meetings. If you have any queries, please contact the clerk by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 01544 239098 and leave a message or call 07483914485.
ADDITIONAL FULL COUNCIL MEETINGS
You may notice a few extra meetings of the Town Council being held over the next few weeks/months. Kington Town Council has been fortunate enough to apply for and been granted funding for projects to promote the town and help recovery from Covid and to ensure we can act within our legislative framework and in particular meet the requirements of our financial regulations, Councillors have been meeting and will need to meet a little more frequently than our usual monthly meetings. As always, members of the public are very welcome to attend our meetings and may, at the discretion of the Chairman/Mayor, speak on certain agenda items. Please look out for additional meetings which are announced on the meetings page of this website and on notice boards within the town.
NEW TOWN COUNCILLOR
Kington Town Council are delighted to welcome a new Town Councillor, replacing John Dennis who resigned earlier this year. ANNUAL TOWN MEETING
The Annual Town Meeting is not a Council meeting but is a meeting of residents to raise matters of interest or concern or to discuss a topic that affects the Town. For 2019 it took take place on 22nd May 2019. There was no meeting in 2020 due to Coronavirus restrictions.
For 2021, Covid 19 is still with us and restrictions on public gatherings indoors mean that the meeting cannot take place as usual. A very short meeting took place on 13th May 2021 at 6.00pm in the Old Police Station, Market Hall Street, Kington when it was resolved that the meeting be closed and rescheduled for later in the year. Details of the later meeting will be published nearer the time but will include the presentation of civic awards to those who have supported us all through these particularly difficult months due to Covid restrictions.
For further information please contact the Town Clerk via email to email@example.com or phone 07483 914 485.
