The Scrutiny Committee has a special role within the Council and meets infrequently, when it is needed, generally to discuss specific Council legal business, including the structure of the council, policies and procedure reviews and complaints. The Full Council generally ask the Scrutiny Committee to convene to discuss specific business, and all recommendations made by the Scrutiny Committee are then taken to the Full Council for ratification and acceptance.
