TOWN COUNCIL MEETINGS
The Local Authorities (Coronavirus) (Flexibility of Local Authority Meetings) (England) regulations 2020 enabled Town and Parish Councils in England to hold remote meetings if they so wish. Kington Town Council has successfully used the video conferencing system provided by Zoom since May 2020 with members of the public able to access the meeting and take part in the usual way throughout the pandemic. Those regulations will cease on 7th May and the Council must return to face to face meetings for formal town council and committee meetings. We are consicous that members of the public attending indoor meetings before 17th May may be deemed to be doing so contrary to government rules on public gatherings indoors. To enable members of the public to attend the Annual Town Council meeting for 2021, this meeting has been rescheduled for Thursday 6th May at 7.00pm via zoom. As always, members of the public are welcome to join us and to access the meeting you will need the meeting ID and password which can be found on the meeting agenda. Please refer to the agenda to find the access code to the meeting. If you would like any help to access the online meeting, please contact the clerk by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 01544 239098 and leave a message or call 07483914485.
TOWN COUNCIL OFFICES
The Town Council offices are currently closed to casual visitors until further notice. If you need to contact town council staff you can do so by telephone on 01544 239098 or mobile 07483 914485. Messages left by telephone will be responded to as quickly as possible and emails to the town council will continue to be monitored and are the preferred method of contact. If you wish to visit the Town Council offices, please make an appointment. You should be aware that you will be asked for your name, address and contact details in accordance with Government advice to support Covid track and trace systems. This information will be kept for 21 days and then destroyed. By making an appointment you will be deemed to have given permission for your data to be used for this purpose. Social distancing of 2m will be adhered to as far as possible when visiting the Town Council offices but as our building is occupied by other tenants, we cannot guarantee that the building is Covid safe.
At the moment, we expect the Recreation Ground to remain open but would remind everyone of the need to adhere to social distancing. The children's play area is currently open although there are new restrictions on the number of children and families using the facility and we strongly advise you to adhere to the signage and instructions about hand washing and social distancing.
ANNUAL TOWN MEETING
The Annual Town Meeting is not a Council meeting but is a meeting of residents to raise matters of interest or concern or to discuss a topic that affects the Town. For 2019 it took take place on 22nd May 2019. There was no meeting in 2020 due to Coronavirus restrictions.
For 2021, Covid 19 is still with us and restrictions on public gatherings indoors mean that the meeting cannot take place as usual. We will therefore hold a very short meeting on Thursday 13th May 2021 at 6.00pm in the Old Police Station, Market Hall Street, Kington when it will be proposed that the meeting will be immediately closed and rescheduled for later in the year. Details of the later meeting will be published nearer the time but will include the presentation of civic awards to those who have supported us all through these particularly difficult months due to Covid restrictions.
For further information please contact the Town Clerk via email to email@example.com or phone 07483 914 485.
