Your Town Council Needs You!

Published: 14 January 2019

On 2nd May 2019 elections will be held throughout the County for Town and Parish Councillors and to elect Councillors for Herefordshire Council.

This is an opportunity for you to make a real difference to your local community by joining the Town Council as a Councillor to help guide the Town for the next four years. These are exciting times as Parliament continues to devolve powers to local people through their Town and Parish Councils, giving people a real voice in planning matters, the delivery of local services and the management of local green spaces and public buildings such as the Market Hall and car parks.

If you’d like to know more about what the Town Council does or perhaps consider standing for election as a Town Councillor, why not come along to our Information Event on Saturday 2nd March between 11.00am and 3.00pm at the Old Police Station, Market Hall Street, Kington. You can see what your Town Council has achieved and is working on and speak to current Councillors about what it’s like to be a Town Councillor. Free tea/coffee and biscuits available.

If you are considering standing as a candidate for the Town Council, nomination forms will be available from the Elections Office in Hereford or from the Town Clerk in early March and will need to be returned to the Elections Office in Hereford by 3rd April.  Full details of the application process will be posted on Herefordshire Council’s website and the Town Council website soon.
